Home access · Otolift Modul-Air Smart

Chair stairlifts for the home.

When the staircase — not the car — is the barrier. The Modul-Air Smart rides a 6 cm single rail, folds away for everyone else, and fits straight, curved or spiral stairs. Maya Mobility surveys the house, specifies the rail, and installs it.

What most people never realise

A vehicle lift will not get you up the stairs at home.

BraunAbility and Fadiel platform lifts solve boarding a van while you stay in the wheelchair. A chair stairlift solves a different problem: the staircase inside — or outside — the house. If you can sit, a slim rail and a folding seat restore the floors above without rebuilding the hall.

The Otolift Modul-Air Smart is the model Maya Mobility specifies for this job: the world’s thinnest single rail (6 cm versus a typical 8 cm), modular sections that follow your staircase, and Reverse Drive for narrow or steep flights where knees would otherwise hit the wall. When the chair is folded, the stairs stay walkable for family and guests.

In motion

Call the chair, sit, ride, turn, step off.

A quiet 30-second walkthrough of the Modul-Air Smart — remote, boarding, travel on the thin rail, and landing swivel. Sound is off; the motion is the point.

01 · The rail

A single tube that follows the stairs.

A 6 cm rail mounted on the treads — not through the wall. Straight, curved or spiral. The wide side of the stairs stays clear for everyone else.

02 · At home

Folds away so the household still uses the stairs.

Seat, arms and footrest pack into one slim profile. Parked at the landing, it is a discrete line along the rail — not a second piece of furniture in the hall.

03 · The path

Call, sit, ride, turn, step off.

Reverse Drive keeps knees clear on narrow flights. The seat swivels at the landing so you step onto level floor — not onto a step.

Specified for real staircases

Details families notice after the first week.

Mounted on the treads

Supports screw to the staircase — not through the wall — so the structure of the house stays intact.

Straight, curved, spiral

Modular rail sections follow inside or outside of the flight, including helical stairs.

Short Start / First Riser

Parking options that keep a door or passage at the bottom of the stairs clear.

Upholstery and rail colour

Fabric, synthetic leather or leather seats; cream-white or brown rail finishes.

NEN-EN 81-40

Chair stairlift to the current European safety standard, with CE marking.

FAQ

Questions before we survey the stairs.

No. Vehicle lifts (BraunAbility, Fadiel) carry an occupied wheelchair into a van. A chair stairlift is for the staircase at home or at a building entrance: you sit on the chair, ride the rail, and step off at the landing. If you need to stay in the wheelchair between floors, that is a different product — a vertical platform lift — which Maya Mobility can discuss separately.
Often yes. The 6 cm rail and Reverse Drive are specifically for tight and steep flights. We still measure: width, angle, landings, and who else uses the stairs. A survey is the honest answer — not a photo of someone else’s house.
Yes. Outdoor garden and entrance stairs are a common Modul-Air application. Weather, drainage, and power at the landings are part of the survey.
The chair runs on batteries that charge at the landings. You can complete a trip during a mains outage. Lithium-ion batteries are an option versus the standard lead-acid pack.
The rail is fixed to the stair treads with covered screws — not through the wall. Timing depends on the survey, rail configuration, and options. We plan the install after we have measured your staircase, and we do not promise a 48-hour factory-stock fit.

Planning a stairlift — or not sure if the stairs are even possible?

Send photos of the staircase (top, bottom, and a side view), who will use it, and whether the flight is indoor or outdoor. A Maya Mobility specialist will tell you if Modul-Air Smart is the right path — and what we need to measure on site.
